Who I Am
Hi there! My name is Toph Heighes, the owner and operator of Heighes Editorial.
Ever since I was a child I have been obsessed with stories and the various forms they can be found in. Throughout my childhood and teenage years I found writing to be a therapeutic escape, allowing me to better understand and own my thoughts and feelings. Narratives held a lot of power to me, and I was ever drawn to them. After finishing my A Levels, I did not know what else to do but follow that pull. I went to the University of Southampton to study English Literature and Film Studies, followed by a Masters in Creative Writing. In that MA I found my niche - I was certain this was what I needed to do in life…
After finishing my Masters I met some individuals who had writing projects they never quite got around to finishing. Some had half written memoirs, while others had novels, or even children’s books. With their trust, I had my first clients and Heighes Editorial was born.
I am passionate about the world of literature, which cannot be the most accessible for most people. I have found that everybody we meet in the world has a story to tell, but many do not feel they have the means to tell it. It is therefore my mission to change this, helping authors with big ideas gain the confidence to put them on paper. Holding your finished book in your hands is a feeling that any fledgling author deserves to know.
I love what I do. It is a unique privilege to be trusted with my clients’ stories. I pride myself on my communication and the relationships I nurture with my clients, providing them a supportive and confidential space to explore their narrative, whatever it may be, and whatever it may need from me.
Outside of my work I find peace in the quiet clockwork of nature, my pets, and my stories.
